“Wait Here” is part of a series I’m painting featuring umbrellas. I love the umbrella as a metaphor for agency and self determination; in this piece I’m playing with the theme of trust. Seemingly abandoned on the Arctic ice, a bright red umbrella patiently waits for the return of its owner. Even in the harshest of environments, this umbrella is confident of being found. Painted as a colour study for “The Icebreaker” , “Wait Here” stands on its own as a emotional and poetic visual of disarming simplicity.

Watercolour, 4 × 4”, painted with professional light-fast pigments on Ampersand Aquabord, and protected with Dorlands Wax. The painting has my insignia, JC Little, on the front, and has the title, date and signature on the back. I will include a certificate of authenticity with this painting. Aquabord may be framed without glass; a floating frame is a good option for the whole painting to be viewed. To preserve the painting from deterioration, display away from direct sunlight.
