This is a limited edition hand-embellished signed first state print of my original watercolour painting, “Deadline”, of a young woman perched on an antique clock-face. There are only 60 prints in this edition, printed on special watercolour paper and customized with hand embellished 24k gold leaf. This will make each print unique, distinct from any other print of the same painting and an original artwork in itself. The price includes expedited shipping.

About “Deadline”: The concept came from one of my Inktober sketches, specifically October 14, 2018, the prompt being “clock”. It took only a few minutes to jot down a loose ink drawing in a sketchbook gifted to me by my friend Julie. I recently revisited this collection of Inktober sketches of mine and decided to turn them into paintings. I love the play on words of “Deadline”, and the multi-layered meanings in the image of a female figure running out of time. May of us live with deadlines: professional, child-bearing, social commitments, and of course mortality, the ultimate deadline. There is the whimsical idea that someone could hold time in place, at the edge of unrealistic deadlines we agree to, or even place upon ourselves. There is an element of stress inherent in a deadline, and yet the young woman’s expression is calm, almost serene. The render is classical, with a twist, making full use of super-granulating watercolour pigments contrasting with transparent delicate tones of the female figure, and the dense black of the clock-face numbers. I used shadows and textures to give a feeling of trompe-l’oeil, tricking the viewer into believing this is an actual clock on a wall. 24 karat gold leaf lines the rim of the clock, corroded in places, a nod to the impermanence of time. This is a pure watercolour painting: all whites are the whites of the paper, no white paint was used. This artwork is for someone who loves and appreciates thought-provoking imagery with an inspirational mood. Ideal artwork for any living or working space. Reference model Willow Little.

Limited edition ink jet print, 13 x 14” including a white border. The print is signed, titled and numbered by me, JC Little, on the front, and it is stamped with my embossed insignia. Printed with fade resistant Claria Photo HD Ink on Epson Watercolor Paper, Radiant White. I have calibrated the print to be as close to the original painting as possible. The image has been gilded with 24 karat gold leaf. A Certificate of Authenticity and a Framing Guide is included with this print. It’s recommended to frame it behind UV filter glass, with an acid-free matte, and display away from direct sunlight to preserve the print from deterioration and fading. It will be packaged with an archival sleeve, and carefully rolled into a cardboard shipping tube. To avoid waste, where ever possible I will re-use mailers and other packaging materials.
